HEAD INSTRUCTORS

 

Sensei Lester Harris

Lester holds the grade of 2nd Dan and is the principal owner of the club.

He has been involved with Howick Judo since 2007 when his son started with the club and has been on the Mat since 2011.

Lester holds a Level 1 & 2 Coaching Certificate, Area B Referee Certificate and an Area A Tournament Technician Certificate.

Lester can be seen at the club most evenings taking beginners, juniors, intermediates and senior classes at both Howick and St Heliers.

 

 

Sensei Lawrie Crooke

Lawrie has being doing Judo for over 30 years and currently holds a 4th Dan.

He is a Judo New Zealand level 3 coach and a National A level referee.

Lawrie can be seen at the club most evenings taking beginners, juniors, intermediates and senior classes in Howick and St Heliers.

 

 


 

 

 

Sensei Matthew Wong 

Matthew started at Howick Judo when he was 8 years old. He currently holds the grade of 1st Dan. Matthew teaches out at the St Heliers dojo where he is a huge hit with the kids. Matthew holds a Level 1 & 2 Coaching Certificate and an Area A Referee Certificate.

 

 

 

Olivia Manning – Female Director

Olivia is one of our senior females on the mat, currently holding the rank of 1st kyu (brown belt) and aiming for black belt in 2021.  Olivia is currently a Director on the Board of Judo New Zealand and has also previously held the role of Secretary of the Auckland Judo Association. 

Olivia has a Level 1 Coaching Certificate

 

All head instructors at the Howick and St Heliers Judo Club hold coaching certificates from Judo New Zealand.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

All Instructors at the Howick And St Heliers Academy of Judo hold a current St John’s First Aid Certificate.
